Suluhu mourns slain family

The Vice President was reacting to the killing of seven people of the same family in Sengerema district, a felony that has left villagers in great shock. Ms Hassan said the government was optimistic that state organs will arrest the killers and bring them to justice but added that it high time members of the public remained alert and ready to volunteer information that will help the security organs to arrest criminals and restore peace and tranquillity. She told mourners when she visited the berieved family on Friday that the government was serious in timely detection of crimes. She added that there is no way killers will be left free while they threaten the lives of innocent people. “The government is keen to make a follow-up on what took place as it concerns the killing of innocent people. For the time being we have not yet known the reasons why the killings occurred. “But the reasons will come to light when the defence and security committee completes its investigation. What I can say now is that we will surely apprehend them, “ said Ms Suluhu. She called on members of the community to be aware that the massacre is not in connection with political party motives or religious matters. She called on everyone to remain patient until investigation is finalized. She said that this shocking incident has happened in Sengerema District. There is a likelihood that a similar incident may occur in other places in the country, so there is no time for us to let crimes to escalate. This nefarious act, she said, should be fought vigorously.
