South African actress Mary Makgatho, who played the role of Puleng on the original Generations, has died. The family of Mary Makgatho has on Monday morning confirmed that the veteran actress has died after complications from a fall in July.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE her casting manager, Carlynn de Waal-Smit confirmed that Makgatho died after spending the past few weeks in hospital.Details surrounding her death are yet to be confirmed. Friends of Makgatho have been posting messages of condolences on social media.
Makgatho also starred in the film Meet The Radebe’s and played the role of Connie on Rhythm City.The Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa also shared his condolences online: “I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of veteran actress and my dear friend Mary Makgatho, who has sadly passed on.”
